Technical logs
Our hosting provider, Cloudflare, Inc., processes technical data such as IP addresses, browser type and the time of each request in order to deliver the site and protect it from abuse. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in keeping the site available and secure. This data may be processed outside the United Kingdom under the safeguards the provider publishes.
If you email us
We use your address and your message to reply to you, on the basis of our legitimate interest in answering. We keep them only as long as we need them, and no more than two years. Our email providers process them on our behalf.
Cookies
This site doesn't set any cookies of its own, and it doesn't embed videos, widgets or trackers from other companies, which is why you won't see a cookie banner.
Links to other sites work like any link: once you've left, that site's own privacy and cookie policies apply. If you follow one of our Amazon links, Amazon may use cookies on its own site to record that you arrived through our link so that a qualifying purchase can be credited. Amazon's privacy notice applies to that.
Your rights
You can ask us for access to your personal data, and to correct or delete it, restrict how we use it, object to that use or receive a portable copy. Write to the address above.
You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office in the UK, or to the data protection authority where you live.
Children
This site is written for adults and isn't directed at children. We don't knowingly collect personal data from them.
